Youth who are involved and actively working to fight poverty, disease, illiteracy, and conflict can now be recognized for their work. Cedza has created the annual Ubuntu Youth Award to recognize a young person or youth organization that demonstrates the ubuntu values of compassion, respect, integrity and tolerance through his/their work nationally and/or internationally. In addition to the award a monetary donation to the individual/organization will be awarded to help the recipient(s) with future endeavors.
Candidate Qualifications:
Must be a youth (age 15-30) or youth-focused organization
Must recognize interconnectedness to others (of other countries, races, religions, economic positions), history (ancestors), and environment
Must be committed to alleviating the world's problems
Must actively work toward that end

two letters of recommendation

The selection committee will evaluate each application for originality of work, demonstrated commitment, entrepreneurial spirit, and results. All applicants must provide evidence of the work they have done, not just desire to do work.

The first award was given in June of 2005 to Chiara Arcidy and HELP-U.org.
