Cedza has partnered with a number of youth-related organizations to achieve his vision for Africa and the globe.
Africa 2015
Africa 2015 is an initiative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) launched in 2003 to promote awareness and achievement of the MDGs in Africa. Africa 2015 recognizes young people as the continent's best chance to find lasting solutions to some of its most pressing problems. From June 26th to-July 1st 2004, Africa 2015 gathered over 300 delegates from all over the African continent representing NGOs, business, government, religion, sports, education and media sectors for the first ever Pan-African Youth Leadership Summit in Dakar, Senegal. This Summit identified, mobilized and developed programs to provide a global platform for the next generation of young African leaders.
Cedza was invited by the United Nations as a youth emissary on the MDGs where urged youth to commit themselves to development through the MDGs during the Opening Session of the conference, engaged President Wade of Senegal on the future of democracy and good governance within the Peer Review Counsel of the African Union during a roundtable discussion, and assisted in drafting the Summit Declaration presenting the young leaders' recommendations for the future hopes of the African continent. This declaration was later presented to the African Heads of States at the African Union heads of states meeting in Ethiopia in July 2004.
An outcome of this summit is the Pan-African Leadership Institute, of which Cedza is a founder.
Asia Pacific 2015
Asia Pacific 2015 is an initiative of the United Nations Development Programme to boost ongoing efforts and trigger bold new steps to support achieving the Millennium Development Goals in the region. An important part of AsiaPacific 2015 was the Pan-Asian Youth Leadership Summit which sought to identify, mobilize and support young leaders, giving them access to training, knowledge and skills to meet the challenges facing their countries and communities. Cedza was invited to the Pan-Asian Youth Leadership Summit held in Hiroshima, Japan in September 2004, where with other African regional chairs, he made an impressive presentation to the Asian young leaders on their progress, achievements and challenges in implementing the MDGs in Africa.
World Youth Peace Summit
The World Youth Peace Summit (WYPS) was an outcome of the Millennium World Peace Summit of Religious and Spiritual Leaders held at the United Nations in August 2000. Inspired by H. E. Kofi Annan and Dr. Ted Turner, the Millennium Summit's goal was to incorporate the religious leaders of the world into the peaceful solution-making process for global issues. WYPS aims to assemble youth leaders from across the globe, in a manner never before facilitated, in order to first, find ways to work for peace across national borders, cultures, faiths, religions, and sectors; second, provide a forum for them to begin the process of creating new definitions of global leadership and citizenship; and third, build a strong global network of young leaders from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Americas, and the Caribbean to support each other as they seek to prevent future world conflicts.
In October of 2003, Cedza hosted the first planning session for The Summit at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. Subsequently, he was appointed the Africa Co-Chair for the WYPS, where he attended and participated in other regional summits in Bosnia and Japan, assisted in penning the European Youth Declaration, selects candidates and strategic partners, and will host a summit of his own in Africa in the near future.
